The primary purpose of writing this article was to tell our future (but perhaps current) patients why we have "such a cost" for implants and crowns, but the emphasis has changed slightly as we had written. And we realized that it is impossible to talk about the cost of treatment (the most common question for people calling the clinic) without touching on the choice of patients in this or that clinic. This means that the deeply economic issue has shifted to the psychological realm. Whatever, we will resolve this issue.
Economy
We start with the cost of treatment and review it with the example of a dental implant. In our advertising campaigns, we always present a specific price with a "screw", which is currently 999 euros. The prices differ significantly (not in a patient-friendly direction) from the advertising price of our conditional competitors, offering an “implant” for only a conditional price of 700 euros. But if you dig deeper, the sight that follows your eyes opens up. Yes, implant placement at another clinic costs € 700, which means that you, the patients, only pay € 700 to install the dental implant, but you still have to install the gum former, remove the impressions, make it, measure it and insert the crowns. pay separately (miracles do not happen). The price may also include a service such as preparing the implant for surgery. All in all, the amount is significantly higher than our offer.
The second situation is when two clinics offer a "screw" implant. In this case, it is necessary to look at what materials are used and what guarantees come with signing the contract. For example, the material of the crowns - cermet or much more advanced zirconia. How long is the guarantee given for the implant and for what kind of crown is used. In our practice, there is a case where our patient, due to the peculiarities of the body, failed to take the implant twice, and in the end, by mutual agreement, we installed a bridge with a hole next to the crown on the tooth without any additional charge. Therefore, it is necessary to look at what is written in the contract, maybe if the implant does not take root with the new "pin", then no money will be taken, but for relocation.
It is a fairly popular opinion in Estonia that the cost of dental treatment is lower in the former USSR territories. Indeed, it would be foolish to deny this, but it is known that there are nuances in all matters. Low price - is it good? This is good. But instead you pay for personal convenience - for a trip to clinics in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia that are not close at all, and if something happens after prosthetics, bone reconstruction or implantation that requires urgent medical intervention, an ambulance (or clinical compensation) during home treatment) cannot be expected. In addition, if the treatment involves several stages (for example, the installation of braces requires regular effort), the difference in price may be incomparable in terms of the cost of free time and money for travel / flights and overnight stays.
Individual cases of liability for treatment. In rare cases, when the work at a foreign dentist is poorly done, but it cannot be overstated and the money cannot be recovered because the clinic avoids liability, or the clinic no longer exists (for example, in such a case). Unlike the former federal republics, only a doctor can open a new clinic in Estonia, which means that in the event of a conflict with patients, he seriously risks his reputation, but the country is small, everything is visible.
In addition to the above, the clinics of the former “brother” republics do not provide installments for a longer period than the treatment period in the case of a large volume of medicine:
Psychology
Price is really very important when choosing a dentist. Majority of patients seek treatment at a specific doctor or clinic based on online or oral assessments.
That is why we always try to be as open as possible and solve all difficult situations (but how can we do without them?) So that we and the client can benefit.
An example is our patient, who was treated by a clinic for one tooth for a year and a half, the drug was changed more than ten times, and finally a pin was inserted at the root of the tooth and a crown was placed on it. Imagine this person's frustration when an X-ray revealed a vertical crack at the patient and his doctor concluded that the tooth root needed to be removed, but it was neither the patient's nor the doctor's fault. He just was not lucky, and the patient was among the 2% who this happens to. Of course, treatment is not always performed 100% of times with the expected results, but in this particular case, the patient was not even warned about possible aggravated situations, and he lost a significant amount of treatment. We always inform our patients about existing risks.
It is also quite common for a patient to find an OMA dentist completely by accident, but mutual understanding arises immediately. Let's give a concrete example from practice. While in Estonia, a patient from Russia ended up in our clinic. He consulted with us in order to compare the treatment plan made and proposed by his dentist with that of our doctor. What were the results? In Russia, he was advised to install 16 (!) Implants. And not with All-On-6 technology when installing a non-removable prosthesis on implants throughout the dental line. This means that the implants are designed to be inserted between healthy teeth. At the same time, the current condition of healthy teeth is quite likely to deteriorate over time, largely under such conditions, and they will fall out, after which the remaining holes must be covered with something. In our clinic, 10 crowns were placed on his own teeth (whose roots and canals turned out to be in good condition) on his upper jaw for 2 days, and later the same number on his lower jaw. All in all, the cost of treatment was 2 times lower than in Russia, with absolutely no loss of quality. In addition, as you can see, implant placement is a full-fledged surgical operation, with its risks and consequences.
Well no, you say. This situation has been considered from beginning to end. How can you agree to install 16 implants on your own jaw? You know, it is very easy. In this particular case, the patient, which is completely natural, consulted in not one or two clinics until he finally reached us. And everywhere dentists turned to him humiliatingly-deploringly or even rudely, why? Because a young woman's dental condition after giving birth to two children is quite sad, but there is less and less sympathy and empathy for the patient in the medical sphere today. And after going through several offices, our hero found a sympathetic ear and support from an implant doctor, who thought that every sick tooth had to be replaced with a crown implant. The patient had doubts about the treatment plan, but the start of the extended treatment was set for the date after the business trip to Estonia, where he was transported and he met us, and we met him. Two years have passed since the crowns were placed - our patient smiles and is satisfied with life.
What does this relatively long narrative lead to, which does not seem to be specific to a typical case? The answer can be that such cases are typical. We are often approached by patients who have let their situation go away after painful treatment or those whose self-esteem has suffered after the dentist's intervention. Many of you have probably heard the phrase "how everything has been lost" or "how have you allowed the situation to get there !?". After such words, I would like to run away from the dentist's chair, but not because of the pain caused, but because of the shame that has arisen. We do not!
A good relationship between doctor and patient is the key to successful treatment. Therefore, we recommend that you always consult several dentists and find the doctor who inspires you. And, yes, always read the treatment contract.
