Which toothbrush is better: electric or regular? Advertising on the Internet and on television “transparently” hints to us to opt for electric, promising a healthy and snow-white Hollywood smile. Is it really?
To remove plaque with a regular brush, you need to make a lot of effort, while an electric one with a rotation function can be simply moved around the teeth to achieve the effect. An electric toothbrush vibrates, softening plaque. Some models have different degrees of pressure, which makes brushing totally safe.
When testing an electric brush, an experiment was conducted: the patient brushed one side of his teeth with an ordinary brush, and the second electric one for 3 minutes. After that, the dentist conducted an examination with a special staining substance. The experiment showed that an ordinary brush leaves plaque between the teeth and near the gums in hard to reach places. The electric brush did its job perfectly.
But there were some minuses - the electric brush has contraindications. This is gingivitis, stomatitis or any other inflammatory processes in the mouth. If you have sensitive tooth enamel, it is recommended to use a regular brush, for a safer and painless brushing. The cost of an electric brush is several times higher than the cost of an ordinary one, which makes it less affordable for purchase.
So, of course, an electric toothbrush is more effective when brushing your teeth. But they are responsible for the whiteness of the teeth, including other factors that will be discussed in other articles.
